There’s a lot happening behind the scenes.
One of the most boring things to talk about as a writer is your web site.
And nothing makes a writer’s eyes glaze over like the acronym ‘SEO’.
Why SEO is important is it tells the search engines what my blog article is about, and how to present it in searches.
As a writer, I suffer from the same fixation all writers do. I write something, it’s good, I want to click ‘publish’ and then off to get coffee.
Fiddling with SEO before I can publish is kind of like writing a novel, and then having to write a novel about that novel before I can send the first novel off.
Boring. Fiddle work. annoying.
Unless I reach NY Times best seller status, I’ll never be able to afford to pay someone to do my SEO for me – which at this point I’d gladly do.
And I’ve got a satisfying SEO score on six posts.
Out of 600.
I’ve got some work to do. The first thing I did that helped was ditching my old SEO plugin and getting YOAST. Now I just need to go back and re-do the SEO on all my pages and posts.
Oh, and don’t forget, 2020 is the year to get a free “how to be a writer” education from this web site. Yes, the whole year is dedicated to taking you from junior high novice to polished author.
All for free.
Enjoy.
